Our analysis of Washington car insurance rates found that USAA has the lowest average rate at $1,212 per year. That’s more than $700 less than the average cost of a policy statewide, which is $1,934. Kemper has the next-cheapest premium in our analysis at $1,230 per year.
In our national rating of the 10 best car insurance companies, USAA is No. 4, but Kemper didn’t earn a spot. While this report on Washington car insurance is focused on costs, the national rating also considers coverage, discounts, consumer feedback and other factors.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, younger, less experienced drivers, particularly teenagers, pay more for car insurance because of their limited driving experience, which, in turn, makes them more likely to file a claim.
We analyzed average costs for teen drivers (17-year-olds), young adults (single 25-year-olds), adults (married 40-year-olds) and seniors (married 60-year-olds). Our analysis revealed that car insurance costs for Washington teen drivers were significantly higher than for other age groups. Similarly, young adults faced higher rates compared to adult and senior drivers.
