NPI Technician, Battery Remanufacturing

What to Expect

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Technician will report to the NPI Supervisor and will be responsible for performing NPI Builds, line trials and maintaining the NPI area.  This person is expected to be able to execute against provided manufacturing instructions (if available), validate their own work, check the quality of previous operations, mentor production associates, lead builds in defined area, and meet schedules.   The NPI Technician is expected to be able to provide feedback, define standard work, and suggest process improvements.  Experience with hand tools and use of semi-automated manufacturing equipment is necessary.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform complex and precise electro-mechanical assembly work and be able to work independently once a task is assigned, make connections with other employees, works fluidly with the team to achieve great results
  • Typically involves a variety of operations, including troubleshooting and rework, requiring a sufficient understanding of the functional operation of the items assembled as well as the finished product
  • Must be able to work from complex and detailed manufacturing documentation, drawings, and/or verbal and written instructions and specialized fixtures/test equipment
  • Updates production records and test results, records process improvements, and manufacturability suggestions
  • Communicates test results, ideas and problems to supervisor and engineers as well as complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times and maintain a clean and orderly work area and identify discrepant materials/components both in writing and verbally to supervisor
  • Escalate build issues through the proper channels and group until resolution and Coach and effectively lead production teams through launches
  • Support NPI Trial build activities, Maintain NPI Pilot Lines to keep current with changes in product design and manufacturing process

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in assembly of electro-mechanical components
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions and mechanical drawings with basic understanding of electrical systems and basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Must have a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail married with the ability to work quickly
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Must be reliable, have good initiative, committed, and quality focused and have the ability to manage time to juggle multiple tasks and to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to perform repetitious duties while standing for long periods of time and ability to lift 30-50 lbs on a daily basis and to maintain a safe working environment as well as fluent in MS Office Suite

Expected Compensation

 

  • Engineering Technician I – $25.92 – $28.90/hour
  • Engineering Technician II – $29.88 – $33.02/hour

+ cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
